6 Day Sky to Sand Adventure

What to expect

A 7-night, 1,200km Moroccan adventure that blends mountain twisties, desert tracks, and endless horizons. With an even mix of tarmac and off-road, this tour is perfect for riders seeking both comfort and challenge.

Leaving Marrakech, you’ll climb the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass into the High Atlas Mountains, then descend through the cinematic landscapes of Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate. From there, follow ancient caravan trails into the Draa Valley, where palm groves and Berber villages line the route toward the Sahara. Nights are spent under the stars in desert camps, complete with local food, music, and campfires.

The heart of the adventure is a true desert crossing — from the dunes of Erg Chegaga across the vast Lac Iriki lakebed to Foum Zguid, where a pool and cold drink await. After a rest day, the ride continues north through the Anti-Atlas Mountains and Taliouine’s saffron country before a final ascent over the spectacular Tizi n’Test Pass back to Marrakech.

Expect dramatic scenery, varied terrain, and Morocco’s trademark warmth and hospitality — a perfect blend of challenge, discovery, and the pure joy of riding.

Itinerary

7 Nights, 6 Days, 5 Riding Days, 1200km, Approximately 50% Tarmac, 50% off road.

Day 1 – Marrakech to Skoura (290km)
Leave the bustle of Marrakech behind as you climb the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, winding high into the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains. The road offers sweeping bends and panoramic views before descending into the dramatic red landscapes around Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar that has starred in countless films. Continue on fast flat arid pistes past Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara,” before finishing in the palm oasis of Skoura.

Day 2 – Skoura to Mhamid (300km)
Ride through the rugged Anti-Atlas Mountains following twisty, dusty caravan trails into the heart of the Draa Valley. The scenery shifts from rocky ridges to the endless palm groves of the Oued Draa, dotted with small Berber villages. In the afternoon, the road gives way to open desert as you take on the first quarter of a 200km off-road desert crossing. Arrive at your desert camp for the night – an evening of starlit skies, local cuisine, camp fires and traditional music awaits.

Day 3 – Mhamid to Foum Zguid (155km)
Today’s route is pure desert adventure: wide open plains give way to the golden dunes of Erg Chegaga, skirting them until you reach the dry lakebed of Lac Iriki, once a vast inland sea. The remote tracks lead to Foum Zguid, where you’ll reach tarmac again. An oasis town framed by striking rock formations of the Jebel Bani. Unwind with a swim and a cold drink at Bab Rimal, the perfect place to recuperate from your long desert adventure.

Day 4 – Rest Day

Day 5 – Foum Zguid to Taliouine (230km)
Ride smooth, scenic tarmac through Taznakht, known for its Berber carpets and mountain views. North of Anzal, the road gives way to a rugged piste—fast, flowing, and full of character. The route winds through remote villages and rocky foothills before descending into Taliouine, surrounded by saffron fields and sweeping Anti-Atlas scenery.

Day 6 – Taliouine to Marrakech (220km)
The journey concludes with twisty wooded pistes back over the Anti-Atlas mountains, before a spectacular climb over the Tizi n’Test Pass. Enjoy sweeping corners, descending into the plains—finishing in Marrakech with memories of Morocco’s raw beauty and endless horizons.

Flights

There are regular low cost flights from the following UK airports to Marrakech:
Gatwick
Luton
Stansted
Manchester
Liverpool
Edinburgh
Bristol
Newcastle

Many major European airports also have regular flights to and from Marrakech.

If you need help with figuring out which flights work best for you, just get in touch.

What if I damage a bike?

We take a 1300€ / £1200 damage deposit to cover any damage and will return this to you at the end of your trip assuming the bike is returned undamaged.

What if I have dietary requirements?

Please let us know well in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Trying to deal with these things at short notice is never easy, so please don’t expect for everything to work out if you don’t give us time to organise!

What about cash?

Morocco uses the Dirham  (dh / MAD). Approximate exchange rates are 12dh / £ and 10dh / €
It is a largely cash society and you can never rely on being able to use card for payment.

As most costs on tour are covered by us, there is little need to sort your own cash. We’re happy to cover your costs even outside of what’s included and settle up at the end to make life easy.
However if you do feel the desire to carry your own cash, here’s some advice:

The Dirham is a closed currency, so getting it outside the country before you travel is extremely difficult.
Currency exchanges at airports often charge an unreasonable amount for their services and offer poor rates.

The easiest and often cheapest way is to withdraw from an ATM. Most medium size towns have an ATM. Poste Maroc and Al Barid bank operate ATM’s without withdrawal fees.

If you have any Dirham left over at the end of your trip, we’re usually able to exchange this with your home currency.

How far do we ride each day?

Daily distances vary depending on the route and terrain, but most days you can expect to cover between 120 and 250 kilometres. On open desert pistes, we might cover more ground, while technical mountain trails or sandy sections can make for shorter but more intense riding days.

We typically ride 5-7 hours per day, including plenty of breaks for photos, refreshments, and lunch. The pace is always adjusted to the group’s ability and comfort – the goal is to enjoy the ride, not race through it.

What do I need to bring?

We provide the bikes, fuel, accommodation, and logistics — you just need to bring your riding gear, personal items, and sense of adventure!
Here’s a checklist to help you prepare:
Essential documents
Full motorcycle license (valid in Morocco)
Passport (valid for at least 6 months)
Travel and medical insurance (including motorcycling cover)

Riding gear
Helmet (mandatory)
Adventure boots
Gloves
Riding jacket and trousers with armour
Goggles or glasses

If you don’t have your own riding gear, we can usually arrange rentals — just let us know in advance.

Personal kit
Lightweight clothing for evenings
Sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm
Toiletries
Small day bag or backpack
Device chargers (Morocco uses European two-pin sockets, so bring a plug adapter if you need one)
Bag to strap to back of bike
